LISOT Launches 2009 Season on LI Sound

There were plenty of smiles all around this weekend when LISOT hit the 37 degree waters of Long Island Sound to get the 2009 season off the dock on our home waters.

Sailing out of beautiful Beach Point YC, with direct, easy access to The Sound and warm air temps far above normal (near 70 on Saturday), sailors enjoyed a variety of wind conditions along with very strong full-moon currents. Even with the frigid water, sailors said they were plenty warm and spent a lot of time on the water both days.

Two of our regular coaching team, Amanda Clark and Jeff Bonanni -- who know the sailors very well from last year, enjoyed a nice 5:1 ratio with the the sailors. Everyone was quickly in sync and got right into the swing of things on Saturday morning. Despite losing an hour of sleep with the clock change, everyone was on time Sunday morning and not too sleepy!

Besides the on-water sailing, there was plenty of fun batting snowballs after the post-practice debrief, as well as a few who tried to walk across the harbor in the super low tide (they didn't make it).

Practice wrapped up Sunday with the LISOT Birthday tradition, a team cake for, on this weekend, Ty Ingram's 13th. Welcome to Red Fleet, Ty!

Everyone had a lot of fun and enjoyed getting back out on the water with Amanda and Jeff again since Orange Bowl. Next weekend LISOT is practicing at Larchmont YC - and Trevor will be out to start training with the team in two weeks.
